FIELD RECORDING
Field recording involves recording material “in the field”, which is usually outdoors. Field recoding engineers not only contribute to ethnomusicology studies and research but also record sounds for a variety of purposes including sound design, etc. Often field recording uses binaural microphones for the most accurate stereo imagery. While analog field recording utilized special miniature tape decks (notably from a company called “Nagra”) these days digital technology has made field recording much more convenient.
