Forensic Audio involves manipulating pre-recorded audio to make parts of it more clear for legal purposes.  If a detective needs to hear a conversation recorded in a noisy elevator, a Forensic Audio specialist can use effects such as EQ to isolate and enhance the voices while reducing the elevator sound.
